Welcome to Scribe Constellation, Sisters of the Golden Moon

Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page. Please, read through these answers before writing to your Galaxy Star, Bronze Star, or Golden Persona Star team leaders, as you may find your answer here! If the answer to your question isn't here, please feel free to ask your team leader, or contact Galaxy Star peacefully. We will be glad to help you.

How do I choose a team to belong to?

Here are the descriptions of each team. Choose the one you find most interesting.

Ezine Team

Team Leaders:
Galaxy Star peacefully
(gpezine-scribe@goldenmoon.org)

The Ezine Team solicits articles from all Sisters for the SGM electronic magazine, "Phases of the Golden Moon," which is published online bi-monthly. The months of publication are as follows:

February
April
June
August
October
December

Team members who have html knowledge will be asked to work on the pages at the end of the month before the issue is due. Those who don't will be assigned other tasks, such as research or proofreading. NOTE: This team is more work than the others, as the Silver Stars are routinely asked to work on the pages.

All Sisters may contribute to the ezine if they wish; however, ezine submissions are only collected in the following months:

January
March
May
July
September
November

On the months in which the ezine issue is not being worked on, Scribe members must submit to the Alexandria Collection (Prose and Poetry Libraries).

Ezine issues are kept online a total of 2 months only.

Athena Team

Team Leader:
Galaxy Star peacefully
(gp-athena@goldenmoon.org)

The Athena Team is named after Athena, the Greek goddess of Wisdom and patroness of libraries. The team is responsible for maintaining the Alexandria Collection, which publishes the following types of literary works: poetry, haiku, tanka, song lyrics, short stories, short plays, essays, memoirs, musings, philosophy, rants, raves, and tributes. The Athena Team also maintains the Writers' Resources pages. This is a library of links of use to writers, which is available to all of SGM. Golden Persona AutumnMist is responsible for the Writer's Resources pages.

All Sisters may contribute to the Alexandria Collection. Team members may be asked to contribute to special projects on occasion.

How long do I have after joining Scribe Constellation to choose what team I'd like to join?

You must choose a team within one week, please. Also at that time, we request that you let us know whether you have html and ftp knowledge. This helps us to assign duties within the constellation.

What kind of work can I send in for my monthly submission?

Your submission can be any one of the following: poem; song lyrics; greeting card verse; short story; short play; essay; philosophical musing; rant; memoir; tanka or haiku; tributes; entertainment or favorable product review; graphics, webtv or html tutorial; technical, hobby, nature lovers, cultural exchange, awareness, kid safety, pet antics, pet care, or health article. (WHEW!) The work must of course be your own original work.

Please also see above under Ezine Team for the months in which ezine submissions are accepted.

Crafts and recipes are generally not acceptable as submissions. These types of items are usually learned from others (either in written or verbal form), so the copyright area is a bit fuzzy. When in doubt, email Galaxy Star peacefully.

PLEASE NOTE: Submissions must be either in the form of a .txt file, or must be typed (or cut/pasted) in the body of your email. Submissions in .doc, .rtf, .html, .jpg or .gif format are unacceptable.

What can I write about?

Each issue of Phases of the Golden Moon has a very broad theme. We ask that the Scribes try to stay within the theme with their submissions to the ezine's "Sister Soul" section. The theme for each month's issue will be announced during the first week of the prior month. For example: The theme for February's issue will be announced during the first week of January. Articles for other sections of the ezine need not fit the theme.

There is no theme for works intended for the Alexandria Collection - you may write on any subject that is not forbidden by our Covenant.

When are my submissions due?

Deadline for submissions to the Ezine is the 20th of the month prior. For instance, submissions for the February issue are due no later than January 20th. Deadline for submissions to the Alexandria Collection is the last day of the month.

Who do I send my submissions to?

One copy of all submissions should be sent to your team leader(s) (see above for team leader names and email addresses). That's the only copy you need to send! Your team leader is the one who posts your work online. She also keeps track of who has made submissions, and reports that to the Galaxy Star at the end of the month. Even if your work is for submission to another section, you still send it to your team's GP. She will see that it is passed on to the correct section. Don't know what team you're on? Look on the Scribe Constellation index page to find out.

Be sure to send your submission to the official address of your team leader(s)! When you do, a copy is also sent to your Galaxy Star - it's our backup copy. There is no need to send additional copies to anyone - just that one address listed above!

How many works can I submit a month?

The minimum is one, and the maximum is ten. But, we do suggest that you be prudent about how many you send. After all, you'll want to save some work for those months of writer's block!

Can I submit to other sections than my team's?

This is a resounding YES!!!! Please feel free to submit to any section in Scribe Constellation you'd like. The submissions still go to your own team leader. They will be forwarded to the team leader who posts the work.

How can I read my Sisters' work?

You can explore the various team's works, and see who the members are, from the main Scribe page: http://scribe.goldenmoon.org There you'll find links to the Alexandria Collection and Phases of the Golden Moon. Each link is posted above a description of the types of works which are acceptable for that section of Scribes. The team membership list is also on the main Scribe page.

The Scribes look forward to receiving your writings and adding them to the Alexandria Collection or Phases of the Golden Moon. If you have any questions, comments or ideas for this constellation, please feel free to contact Galaxy Star peacefully.
